Jentry Chau vs the Underworld
Hey! I know you haven’t heard from me for a while. Anyway, I have this Netflix show recommendation!
If you liked K-Pop Demon Hunters, you’ll love this: 🔥Jentry Chau vs the Underworld!🔥 This is my favorite show!
It’s a 2024 Netflix animated series. It only has one season 😢
But I’m going to change that. I’ll explain all about my season 2 plans in my next blog post. Spoiler alert: I want to write the second season for Netflix so I’m working on it.
Are you ready to see why Jentry Chau vs. the underworld is my favorite show?
All right! It’s about this Chinese American teen Jentry Chau who is your not so average high schooler.
On her 16th birthday everything turns upside down, when she is attacked by a Jiangshi named Ed. During the battle she reawakens her fiery abilities. She defeats Ed (but not the way you think). Ed complains about being defeated… Jentry demands to know what he is and what he wants. Ed tells her his name and that he’s named after Edward Cullen 🫣 and tells her he needs to keep an eye on her for someone called Mr Cheng. That’s when Gugu (Flora Chau) intervenes and calms Ed down with a talisman. Gugu announces they are moving back to Jentry’s hometown of Riverfork Texas. Jentry is fearful of returning to Texas because of an incident that happened when she was 8 years old: the great fire that she caused that burned down half the town. She goes anyway despite her fears. They bring Ed along with them.
Throughout the next few episodes Jentry struggles with her powers and her identity as the demon girl. Later her identity is revealed to the school, causing some tension between her and her fellow students. She is chased by the guardians of Diyu. They demand that she close the portal that she opened or threaten to kill her. She sees visions of her parents Moonie and Peng.
Jentry finds out dark secrets about her parents’ past and the even darker secret behind her powers. People aren’t what they seem. Who can she trust?
On top of that high school drama, as she battles demons and passes algebra, can she find out the secrets and accept her identity? Find out for yourself in 🔥Jentry Chau vs the underworld🔥
Here’s some information about the characters:
Jentry Chau🔥
She is a determined, independent and no-nonsense teenager. But she can be quite a goofball sometimes and has a good heart, though she can be prickly sometimes. Like I mentioned earlier she has fiery abilities and she’s being hunted by demons for them. She likes to draw too, as a fun fact.
Gugu (Flora Chau)
She’s a Taoist Priestess. She helps train Jentry in her fire powers. She helps her in every way she can and wants to help further her potential, but she might be hiding a few secrets.
Michael Ole
Jentry’s childhood friend and crush. He’s a goofy guy. He has dreams of playing the flute but he is in a conflict—people want him to continue as a football player. And he has these visions of the future, and gets mixed up with all the supernatural stuff.
Ed
He’s a quirky, funny, little Jiangshi. He wants to be scary but everyone thinks he’s cute. He tries to be scary on the internet and claims he’s named after Edward Colin from Twilight. He was originally sent to kill Jentry but ended up being her sidekick.
Stella Gonzalez
She is Jentry’s best friend whom she met on her first day at Riverfork High School. She’s Michael’s girlfriend. She helps Jentry along the way and also gets mixed up in the supernatural drama.
Kit
A mysterious boy Jentry meets at school. He might be hiding a supernatural secret—he isn’t what he seems. He has feelings for Jentry.
Mr Cheng
A Chinese man who sought to bring back his dead daughter. He made a deal with a Mogui and became its host; he is hunting Jentry for her powers and her ability to raise the dead.
The guardians of Diyu (Horse-Face and Ox-Head)
In the show their job is to keep balance between worlds. They are often seen together. They threatened to kill Jentry when she opens a portal to the underworld.
Moonie and Peng Chau
I don’t want to spoil it for you.
The Mogui
A deceptive parasite who makes deals with people to get what he wants. He looks like a slug.
VP Wheeler
The vice principal of Riverfork High. He is obsessed with the great fire and is determined to figure out the mystery behind it.
